Surrounded by a massive medieval-era fortification called The Citadel, the mosque's rich interiors and soaring domes are a feast for the eyes. Next, head to Old Cairo for a walking tour of the Hanging Church — built back in the 600s AD, after Egypt had embraced the new-ish religion of Christianity — and nearby Ben Ezra Synagogue, said to be built on the spot where baby Moses was found. You'll end the day with lunch at a local restaurant and a visit to the Giza Pyramids (and the famous Sphinx).
