We wanted to share an important update on Hurricane Rachel and Tropical Storm Simon, and what they mean for Brilliant Lady's upcoming voyage. After carefully considering the latest forecast, we've made the decision to adjust our planned route to keep our Sailors and Crew safe while still delivering an incredible vacation.
The short version:
- We've made the decision to adjust our planned route due to Hurricane Rachel and Tropical Storm Simon.
- We're swapping our original Mexican Riviera itinerary for a West Coast adventure, with stops in Santa Barbara, San Diego and Ensenada, Mexico.
- Your safety and the safety of our Crew will always come first, and we've worked hard to secure an alternative itinerary at short notice.
- The California coast is likely to be cooler than your original destinations, so be sure to pack a few extra layers and a light jacket.
- If you booked Virgin Voyages Shore Things for ports that are no longer part of the voyage, you'll automatically receive a full refund.

What's happening, and why
We've been closely monitoring the projected paths for Hurricane Rachel and Tropical Storm Simon. After carefully considering the latest forecast, we've made the decision to adjust Brilliant Lady's planned route. With ports understandably limited at such short notice, we've worked hard behind the scenes to secure an alternative itinerary that still gives you an incredible vacation, with calls in Santa Barbara, San Diego and Ensenada, Mexico.
We know this isn't the itinerary you originally planned, and we recognize it's a significant change. Our priority is always the safety of our Sailors and Crew, and we're confident this West Coast adventure will still make for a memorable week at sea and ashore.

A bit about your new destinations
Each of these destinations brings something different to your voyage. Santa Barbara offers a beautiful coastline and laid-back seaside charm, San Diego brings its signature coastal energy, and Ensenada is known for its food, wine and culture. And, of course, everything you were looking forward to onboard our beautiful Lady Ship will still be waiting for you.
One important packing note
The weather along the California coast is likely to be cooler than the destinations on your original itinerary, particularly during mornings and evenings and while at sea. We recommend adding some warmer layers and a light jacket to your suitcase before heading to the terminal.

If you booked Virgin Voyages Shore Things in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán or Puerto Vallarta, you'll automatically receive a full refund to your original form of payment. If you booked independently through a third-party tour operator, we recommend contacting them directly to discuss your options. Shore Things for Santa Barbara, San Diego and Ensenada will be available to book soon in the Virgin Voyages App.
